Middelburg
The history of Middelburg on peninsula Walcheren goes back to the time of the Carolingian Dynasty. Later in the 12th century the Norbertines monks founded an abbey. Middelburg was in the middle ages an important trading center. Many of the old buildings were destroyed while World War II , but many are rebuilded with help of old drawings. An example is the townhall of the 15th century. Today Middelburg is a popular town for shopping, restaurants and of course for historic sightseeing.
